Kindergarten

During kindergarten science, students work in groups on hands-on activities. As a result, they practice tactile learning, problem solving, and cooperation.

They also experiment with different scientific concepts to understand how the world works.

Critical thinking plays a big role, too. Therefore, we encourage kids to ask questions and expand their knowledge.

Kindergartners begin structured learning about well-known Bible stories and key memory verses.

In addition, students grow spiritually by talking to Jesus through prayer. Over time, they discover what faith means and how it applies to their lives.

Games go a long way in helping kindergartners grow their vocabulary. For example, they play bingo and read books in the library.

Also, our middle school students join our kindergartners as reading buddies and read stories alongside them.

In kindergarten, students dive into history by learning about major historical figures. Similarly, they explore other cultures by learning about holidays and countries around the world.

As your child’s creativity develops, kindergartners have regular art class. There, they make art on their own and as a group. For instance, projects include:

• Gustav Klimt and his techniques in painting and collages.
• Painting with paper outlines students cut themselves.
• Crayon and pastel shading and drawing.
• Watercolor painting.
• Stained glass style collage crosses during Easter time.

Throughout the year, kindergartners learn the basics of music and play instruments like glockenspiels, triangles, and drums.

What’s more, our kindergarten class performs twice a year at our Christmas concert and ArtsFest program, as well as at select chapels.
